Freedom and flexibility with Global Track crane

Project Desciption

Newgrove Benchtops has been operating at Geelong in Victoria for the past 25 years. The company manufactures bench tops for the domestic, commercial, hospitality, education and health sectors. During this time Newgrove has grown considerably after investing in advanced European equipment and technology to keep up with latest industry trends. When the company was looking for a bridge crane to improve production it had no hesitation in choosing Global Track Australia.

Global Track supplied and installed two 140kg Pivotal Bridge Cranes and vacuum lifters. They are being used to load on and off laminated bench tops from two CNC routers. Company director Sean Blood Newgrove says Newgrove has now been dealing with Global Track for nearly two years with great results. “I choose Global Track after reading an article in Industry Update magazine,” says Sean. Global Track director Bruce McKay gave Sean a demonstration of the Pivotal Bridge Crane at his nearby workshop in Geelong. “I was very impressed by its freedom and flexibility,” says Sean. Before seeing the Pivotal Bridge Crane Sean was only aware of conventional Jib cranes and had “recognised limitations in their operation.”

Since implementing Global Track’s Pivotal Bridge Crane and Vacuum Lifter Sean says production at Newgrove has increased considerably. “Previously it took two operators to carry out the same task which now takes one, he says. “And the accessional damage to bench tops caused by manual handling has decreased.” The new system has also helped improve the company’s OHS record.

“Since implementing the Global Track system I have had no staff concerns with back strains previously caused by manually handling heavy bench tops, says Sean. And Sean has been highly impressed with Global Track’s after sales service. Its has been admirable,” he says. “Since the installation Bruce has called back to keep tabs on its operation. I would recommend Global Track to any company in manufacturing that requires heavy objects to be moved around their workshop.”

Global Track has improved the function of existing overhead manual cranes to a higher standard by developing the revolutionary new system. The company designed and developed the world’s first pivotal crane up to 16m in length – the longest bridge available. The system uses straight-forward engineering principles – the ergonomic design features a pivotal bearing and levered swinging U-hanger producing a crane with fluid motion. The unique pivotal system has the load applied between the pivot points allowing a lever reaction, which reduces the operator effort.

Unlike static track cranes, which require significant operator effort and are prone to jamming, Global Track works with ease. It will not jam, will increase efficiency, improve production and will help to reduce workplace injuries.Because the system requires far less effort, the size of bridge can be greatly increased. Global Track manufactures manual functional cranes from 250kg up to 2 tonne – with 16m bridges.
